Access to vCenter Server is based around Role Based Access Control. Something you don't have control of is what method the user can use to connect to vCenter and work within their defined role. They could connect using APIs, Powershell, web client, c# client, SDKs etc.
I'm not sure why allowing these users to connect to vCenter and run a script (with their read only permissions) is such as bad thing. They aren't retrieving any more information than they have access to via the web client or c# clients, and they don't have privileges to make any changes. Maybe if you could elaborate on what the issue with allowing these users to connect and run scripts, then we can assist further.

vRA 7.1 silent installer fail on prerequisite fixes
Hi,
I am testing the silent installer within VRA 7.1 but are running into an issue where the script "vra-ha-config" errors out when trying to fix the prerequisites for IaaS servers.
I am launching the script remoted with the following command:
Start-Process 'C:\Program Files (x86)\PuTTY\plink.exe' -ArgumentList ("-ssh -v -pw $rootpasswd root@${VRA1Name} bash /usr/lib/vcac/tools/install/vra-ha-config.sh")
Error message is :
"Unable to apply fix: [Security error.][Security error.]",
The Zone of the assembly that failed was:
[2016-09-19 22:23:09] [root] MyComputer
[2016-09-19 22:23:09] [root] System.Security.SecurityException: Security error.
[2016-09-19 22:23:09] [root] at System.Management.Automation.MshCommandRuntime.ThrowTerminatingError(ErrorRecord errorRecord)
This same error appears on quiet a few of the prerequisites checks for instance the uninstall of KB's and the disabling of the loopback authentication checks on the Window servers.
I have the ha.properties file configured with"

APPLY_FIXES='True'
I believe this has to do with my command and security permissions but not sure how to resolve. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Unable to install VMware-vCloud-Suite-SDK-.NET-6.0.0-2561075 and access it from Microsoft Visual Studio 2015?
I am unable to install VMware-vCloud-Suite-SDK-.NET-6.0.0-2561075
I downloaded the zip file; I extracted the content of the zip file; I read the doc vCloud-Suite-Client-SDK-.NET-README.html which told me to execute the following command:

Evacuate a Host with DRS functionality but not put it in Maintenance Mode
Hello Everyone,
Long Story short sometime in the past someone put a Host in maintenance mode and not all VM's migrated and because the host was going into Maintenance mode things got messed up and the host had to be rebooted and the VM crashed....
So since then it's policy to evacuate all VM's on a host before putting into maintenance mode... as you can imagine that's a LOT of extra work and time.
Therefore I am looking for an easy way or even a PowerCLI script that will Evacuate all VM's on a host but uses DRS smarts and distributes them to hosts that can handle it!
Someone please let me know if that is possible! I have 20 Hosts to reboot with a few hundred VM's and it's going to take a while!

What language and keyboard layout is on your Mac ? Sometimes Mac international keyboard layouts differ from Windows
The fix is to install the proper keyboard profile in the guest, or manually change the mapping.

To collect support bundle, there are couple of ways:
1. From Workstation UI: Go to Help -> Support -> Collect Support Data... and upload the support bundle zip file. (If you have any issue to run the UI, you can use method 2)
2. For Workstation Player/Workstation Pro: Go to Player/Workstation Pro installation path: C:\Program Files(x86)\VMware\VMware Player (VMware Workstation), find the vm-support.vbs and double click it.

This feature already exists, you should be able to put a host into maintenance mode and it will prompt you that it will move all VMs to other hosts in the cluster before finally putting the host into maintenance.
Yes it can be easily achieved by PowerCLI but I don't see the need to, unless you are saying that this feature isn't working for you?
If the feature isn't working then you may be experiencing a known issue or bug, in which case attach the hosts logs here for analysis or log a case with VMware.

Are you saying that you have two VCs with the same name registered to the same PSC? I didn't know this was possible.
Could you check what VCs are registered with the PSC, one might be known under the IP rather then FQDN / hostname, making them unique so you could use that corresponding name to remove it.

Custom property to mark software blueprint as non-blocking
When adding software components to a machine blueprint, assuming no dependencies have been configured for those components, is there a custom property or some other way to mark one of those components as non-blocking in case any of its lifecycle steps fail? Or a way to mark any one of those lifecycle steps (in combination of or exclusive to the entire component as non-blocking) as non-blocking? For example, there could be multiple software components added to a machine blueprint. Some of them are absolutely necessary, while others not so much. I'm looking for a way to mark either an entire component, or a lifecycle stage as "best effort" so if it fails for any reason, the build continues and simply raises a warning.

I would also patch the ESXI host to the latest version or latest patch level for 5.5.
Generally these exception 14's are hardware related so it would also be worth running a hardware diagnostics via tools available from the vendor.

Concurrent connection on vSphere
Hi guy,
Have anybody known that ESXi and each VM running inside have limitation of concurrent connection?
Do you know there is a concurrent connection limitation on x86 server, or ESXi Port, or vStandard Switch port, or vDistributed Switch port in VMware?
I want to run one app in VM that relate to transaction per second, that why i have to make sure on concurrent connection that limited on x86 server or VMware.
if you guy know or have experience, please help to share.

If my understanding is correct, you can try following steps:
1. Open Settings pane of your Windows 7 guest.
2. Click Keyboard & Mouse icon.
3. Edit the profile your VM is using.
4. Click Mouse Shortcuts tab.
5. Uncheck 'Secondary Button'
6. Try to hold down control button while clicking things in our Windows VM.

"Library appears WITH MY VM'S I've opened loaded - but NONE are opening the windows." Do you mean you have added several VMs in VM Library?
If there are more than one VM items exist in Library, Library window will show automatically only when user launch Fusion.
So, could you please help take a screenshot of your Library when you relaunch Fusion? Thanks.
